“We need a r/evolution of the mind. We need a r/evolution of the heart. We need a r/evolution of the spirit. The power of the people is stronger than any weapon. A people’s r/evolution can’t be stopped. We need to be weapons of mass construction. Weapons of mass love. it’s not enough just to change the system. we need to change ourselves.” – Assata Shakur
The revolution must happen on all levels: the African mind, the African heart and the African spirit.
For the African mind to be revolutionised, we must know who we truly are, have a vision for our nation, and think critically how to evolve from victims to victors. If our minds are right, then we can dictate our reality correctly, organise and mobilise to a great change that is well overdue.
For the African heart to be revolutionised, we must see all Africans as our brothers and sisters, even the ones that have rejected the struggle to be free. We must have compassion in our community, in our own neighbourhood and beyond. Also, we must be ready at any time to sacrifice for our fellow brother and sister. We cannot be afraid and revolt, it just doesn’t work. We must be ready to fight for peace. We cannot afford to be cowards, our oppressors are cowards, and we must refuse to be like them.
For the African spirit to be revolutionised, we must harness the power we possess from our ancestors, their spirit has shaped our African DNA to survive and thrive. It is our creative souls hat will lead us to a renaissance, a restoration and a reawaking.
Once we have revolutionised ourselves, we will revolutionise the world!
